RUComingOut Teams Up With National Student Pride 2016
On Saturday 6th February we'll be teaming up with National Student Pride when we host a panel discussion about coming out. The event (which in 2015 was named Best Event at the British LGBT Awards) kicks off on Friday night and runs throughout the weekend. Radio 1's Adele Roberts, Union J's Jaymi Hensley, Nail Transphobia's Charlie Craggs and Stonewall Programme alumni Sherelle Garwood will join RUComingOut founder Wayne Dhesi to discuss the changing nature of the coming out process.
The the two key themes of this year's Student Pride are coming out and mental health which will be explored in various panels and discussions at the daytime event. In advance of this weekend's event the BBC's Evan Davis spoke to Student Pride about his own personal experiences and the close links he feels exist between coming out and mental health. On Sunday an intimate screening of the film MILK will be screened with a Q&A Session with Stuart Milk, Harvey Milk’s Nephew.
