Our Obsession With Gay FootballersMay 2013 - It's been over two decades since Justin Fashanu became Britain's first out gay professional footballer. Did Fashanu's suicide eight years after he came out force other gay players further back in the closet or is society creating a climate of fear that simply doesn't exist?
We know there are gay footballers playing in top flight football who for whatever reason do not feel ready to let the world know that they are gay.
